Other Stuff
Other Blogs
In September 2007, I started a blog about Twitter called TwitterSweet.
Coding == Fun
This is some of the software I've written outside of my job. Like the rest of this site, it's licensed under a Creative Commons License.
Facebook Applications
I've recently started developing on the Facebook platform. My first app is called Football Kicks Ass! and is for all the NFL fans out there.
Greasemonkey Scripts
These only work with Firefox, but damn they are fun. You can see a list of my scripts at UserScripts.org. I also made some UI enhancements to Newsmasher.
Movable Type Plugins
I use a handful of these, and now have started authoring my own MT plugins.
- Tired of curly quotes, em-dashes and foreign characters breaking your XHTML validation? Rendering incorrectly in browsers? Breaking XML-dependent apps? My EncodeNonAscii plugin is the simplest fix possible.
Config Files
These let me work on multiple boxes with some semblance of sanity. If you're a *nix programmer, aybe you'll find something useful. If you're not, you'll probably think sanity is the wrong word.
Command Line Tools
These are small utilities that I've written to scratch a particular itch ... usually because I didn't realize someone else had already solved the problem.
- regrep: recursive grep (with color highlighting)
- cup: improved CVS update (also with color)
- sp: command-line spellcheck
- fn: recursive find files by name
RSS Feeds
I scrape/generate/build these by hand so you can read them in an RSS reader instead of remembering to visit the site, hoping there's an update.
- Paul Graham, author and essayist. The Onion: weekly notifier: other RSS feeds have per-article updates. That's annoying; I just want to be reminded when there's a new issue to enjoy.
- This Modern World, (usually) political cartoons by left-wing "Tom Tomorrow".
-
Userscripts.org, the main repository of scripts for Firefox's Greasemonkey plugin.(inactive; use the official feed for recently-created user scripts) -
The Creatures in My Head, a bizarre daily comic strip.(inactive; use the official CIMH feed instead)
Feed Flare
For use with Feedburner
- Add to Reddit
- Slash Comments Count (uses slash:comments instead of wfw:commentRss)
Misc.
These are other projects I've worked on.
- My Amazon wishlist, sorted by bargains — for now, it's just books. I have not released the source code yet. If you're interested, let me know.
