A Maverick Sellout
Fucking John McCain.
I used to be a big fan. Heck, I even gave you a write-in vote in 2000 instead of casting one for the moron or the mannequin (and I still think you, and Bill Bradley, would have been a better president than either of those two).
And I understand that the 2008 election is really important and that it would suck to compete on an unbalanced playing field.
But now that I see you are accepting the very soft money you claimed undermined democracy, I can't help but think:
- Wouldn't it be better to lose with honor and dignity, than to win by cheating like your opponents?
- If you're this hypocritical as a candidate, what the hell would you be like when you're actually in office?
I'm glad to see the media taking you to task for this one.
McCain's a punk! I'm sure he'd have been the cool guy to hang out with when he was at Annapolis, but he shows very little respect for people. When I've seen him up close (addressing an audience of very politically active young people in 2000 in NH) he was name-dropping people from the MTV VMA's and failed to address any substantial policy issues until he was questioned by the audience.
That being said, he did give a dope quote that day. "I don't know why we're sending our children to new prisons and old schools." Not the old school you and I like, he meant the cracking, falling down kinds.

If, say, in basketball, suddenly everyone was using a legal drug that gave them a 5% boost, would you want your favorite players to not also take advantage of that? They wouldn't be on the team anymore.

If you can play dirty, and not get whistled for it, you're still a punk.
