A judge on Friday issued a gag order in the criminal case against former Teaneck High School Principal Joseph White, barring him and the lawyers involved from talking to the public.
White faces charges of official misconduct and endangering the welfare of a minor after he allegedly had sexually explicit chats with a male student in his office. The student was cooperating with investigators and was secretly wired during the conversations, prosecutors said.
State Superior Court Judge William C. Meehan said Friday during a hearing in Hackensack that White or the lawyers will face contempt of court charges if they speak to the media.
Prosecutors said they have seized several computers from White's home but haven't examined them.
White was acquitted four years ago of fondling a 17-year-old boy. He was arrested a second time in June.
