Jon "The Dancing Trombone Guy" Arons has an extended and improved version of his act.

Picture someone playing trombone to a medley ranging from Kool and the Gang to Fat Joe. Yeah, I know you can't. So check the video of him getting down.

I met him when we did Cross Country in high school, and he was one of the few people that didn't diss my awful times.

He's kinda getting to be a one-trick pony with the trombone thing. I think it's more of a gimmick at this point, versus a real talent. He reminds me of that "Evolution of Dance" guy you can find under "Most Viewed All-Time" on youtube.

I think it's too long. It's like "Heh, this is funny, it's a guy dancing with a trombone. Oh, he's got popular music and he plays along. That's kinda funny. Oooh, look at that move. Ok, there's another move. Well, he's still going isn't he? Ok, I think I get it. I don't even like this song. And still some more. And I'll bet next there's gonna be a popular song and he's gonna play the hook and dance some. And there it goes."

Yeah, I find it particularly interesting because I know (knew) the guy. Like if Evan's 9th birthday party was someone else's, we wouldn't have watched it more than once.

I don't know if I agree with that. People watch youtube all the time to see people doing inane shit.

This guy Evan and I went to school with videotaped his friends and himself as teenagers boxing clumsily in his basement with GWAR music in the background, and the fighting stopped when one guy got punched awkwardly, fell to the ground, and the cameraman leaned in laughing for an extreme closeup to catch the guy wheezing in pain and asked "What happened?" The guy gasped and said with a lot of effort, "He... got... my... neck." We watched that a bunch of times laughing, and still say "He got my neck" to this day, even though we knew neither combatant.

But anyway, yeah, Jerry's assessment is accurate about the Jon Arons thing. I still don't get the comparison of Kool and the Gang meets Fat Joe - where did Fat Joe resemble Arons' routine?

They play a Fat Joe song at one point in the medley.
