Um, So What Is In Vista, Then?

Monad will not be included in the final version of Windows Vista.

So this is what now? Just better 64-bit compatibility and a new UI?

XP will go into "extended support" mode not too long after Vista's release. It will receive some critical patches for a few years, but no major updates and the OS won't be allowed to use the latest version of Internet Explorer.

In addition to an OS that is actually supported, the biggest thing Vista offers is the 3D interface that will let us know that we are all living in the future.

Vista will provide you with Genuine Advantage. How can you not see that?

Besides, Monad was only going to be available for their servers, which makes it pointless to use as part of their platform. Who cares?

This is good. It gives me a chance to beat MS to the punch by providing a similar model shell replacement based on Ruby. I will call it Ronad or Unad or Mony or Moby or some other stupid name. It's dumb for MS to expect system folk to pick up a new scripting language that is not compatible with anything. But there are some things that Monad was going to do which is not foreign to the freesoftware folk, which means freesoftware folk should be there FIRST!
