Zidane Delay

France soccer captain Zinedine Zidane head-butted Italian player Marco Materazzi after the two exchanged words.

The BBC reports:

"He told me Materazzi said something very serious to him but he wouldn't tell me what," agent Alain Migliaccio told BBC Five Live Sport.

...

Migliaccio, who spoke to Zidane at 2am on Monday, added that Zidane did not elaborate on what Materazzi said.

"I don't know. Zinedine didn't want to talk about it but it will all come out in the next week," he said.

Now, I know very little about soccer or Zidane, but this sounds like he's just stalling for time to think of a good reason why he chose to make the final play of his career be a red card.

no way. something had to be said, you don't headbutt a guy on that kind of stage for no reason.

BBC was reporting he said something about his mother.

What kind of composure does Zidane have if he'd get ejected from a game over a "yo momma" insult?

I'm just saying he didn't go off for no reason, he's not stalling to think of an excuse. He went off for a *poor* reason, even though he did punch his card for the badass hall-of-fame with the headbutt.

The main character in Final Fantasy 9 is also named Zidane... So someone took the HUD from FF9 and put on a short clip of the headbutt:

I'm thinking it was a racist comment of some sort, but still, it's entirely his fault he headbutted the guy.

From the video, and comments I've seen about that particular clip, it appears he was the recipient of a "titty twister" first....
