Amazon Associates Musing
It looks like my links to Amazon are generating some sizeable revenue (for Amazon). So far this year:
| Items | Total Sales | My Revenue |
| 65 | $1,585.66 | $63.42 |
I guess having the link up top, the ads on my post popular entries and especially those on-line ads at the bottom of my scraped feeds is key.
Almost no one buys what I link to directly, though (I sold one copy each of Paul Graham's "Hackers and Painters" and Six Feet Under Soundtrack: Vol. 2); instead they browse around and get other stuff such as:
- a digeridoo
- six varieties of Moleskine notebooks
- a car hood "prop"
- an iPod Nano (thank you!)
- "Batteries Not Included" on DVD
Weird. Not that I'm complaining, or anything.
I guess the key with making money at Amazon is to get your referral code out there; hopefully some people will make an "Amazon" bookmark with that code in it.
My audience doesn't seem the shopping type -- hardly any click-throughs on any of my affiliate links or my banners. None have converted to sales, either.
My Linkshare affiliate links have at least converted to sales -- still, less than $10/quarter in commissions, though. Guess I just need to pimp harder.
Well that Paul Graham RSS feed has 11,000 readers according to Feedburner. That probably accounts for plenty.
