Note To Self: Buy a Shredder

Cockeyed took a credit card application, ripped it up, taped it back together and changed some information. He then sent it in and got a $5000 credit line. Yikes.

And what the fuck is wrong with Chase?

Comments: Note To Self: Buy a Shredder

Call me paranoid, but when I tear up credit applications, I don't put the pieces in the same bag of trash. If someone wants to take half my application now, and the other half in a different bag of trash that comes down the chute a few days later... well, then they can have my credit. It has always struck me that it wouldn't be hard to put back together a credit app, especially if one has access to a scanner & color printer (and could therefore Photoshop out any signs of tape & tears)

I've done that a few times. Or I rip up and hand-shred the important part.

I keep all these applications around and rip them up everytime I move (I always mean to destroy them sooner, but I never do). I think I currently have 100 or so. Fucking credit card companies send the same crap week after week. I hate those fuckers.

No more comments! Either someone has violated Godwin's Law, I'm tired of the discussion or, most likely, the ten-week window has closed. You can, however, contact me through email.
