He didn't show it to her until they'd been married for many years (I've seen 7 and 11 mentioned, so I'm not sure how long). And she refused to sign it, so I wouldn't be blaming her.

Schizophrenia often manifests in men in their early to mid-20s. I reckon mild mental illness explains a lot of cases of men who go strange a few years after marrying. On the other hand, some people just chose to be creepy, and I'm guessing that includes most pornographers.
