Party Poker Pimp and Neverwinter Nights Nerd

I finally won my first (play-money) 10/1 Texas Hold-Em tournament. I'd had four second-place finishes prior to it. My final two hands were a flush: ace high, and two pair: jacks and fives. I also beat Neverwinter Nights: Diamond Edition this weekend (Dwarven Cleric 18 / Fighter 2 / Champion of Torm 7). Time for a new, more productive, online diversions.
Ad: Unlike most new games, Neverwinter Nights: Diamond Edition doesn't require state-of-the-art hardware to run well. It's the best translation of Dungeons & Dragons to video gaming and has a ridiculous number of good mods out there. The Diamond Edition includes the original, the two official expansions (around 30 hours each) and three mini-expansions for under $30. As far as role playing bang for the buck goes, you can't do any better.
The whole monthly fee thing turns me off. I like the fact that with games like Warcraft III, it was usable offline *and* the costs of online play were implicit in the price you paid for the software.
As far as I can tell, there is no single-player WoW, and game itself isn't sold at a noticeable discount.

I used to think the same thing. However, I soon realized that World of Warcrack (and EverCrack before it) would keep me home instead of going to the movies, buying music, out drinking in a bar, strip clubs, etc. The money I would have spent otherwise simply goes to gaming online.
Then again, I thought NWN would be totally cool until I actually tried to play it. 1st person > 3rd person for gaming (in my opinion).
NWN is fun if you've always wanted D&D well-translated into a video game format. Also, you need to use a walk-through and change the key mappings to get a good experience. And I love the fact that not only do people mod the crap out of it, but that Bioware and Wizards of the Coast are cool with people translating official Dungeons and Dragons content.
I hear you on the relative prices. I used to, when I was younger, think of things like "Would I rather buy this CD and listen to it a bunch of times or see two movies?" For some reason I don't do that as much.
