Like Pizza, but "Smaller and More Efficient"

I was just discussing with a coworker, whether crêpes are the new "wrap"/burrito. After all, they're lighter and more versatile — you can put dessert in a it or you can have savory ingredients; like a burrito (and unlike a wrap), you can eat it on a plate, or stuff it into a more portable shape.

However, it appears that someone is approaching the idea from the opposite direction: you can now get your pizza served in an ice cream cone of sorts.

(As far as the headline goes ... I wonder if that's my first Simpsons reference.)

I think the answer is "no" -- are you really considering crepes trendy? They've been around a while, and I don't see them reaching any sort of tipping point now. Also, are you thinking about the crepe place near us, in Pentagon Row? It sucks. Try some real crepes.

The ones in Pentagon Row and the Pentagon City food court are both decent. The fact that there are two within a short distance from my apartment makes me wonder. (After all, Vietnamese and Ethiopian cuisines had been around for centuries and yet there had to have been some point where they went from obscure to commonplace in the DC area.)

I haven't tried the one in the Pentagon City food court, but the one in Pentagon Row -- it's really not that good. And most others I've talked to about it, have agreed with me.

Besides, my point was more that it's nothing new. When I was in college in Pittsburgh, crepes were quite big, and generally Pittsburgh is not a trendsetter! I think it is just an odd coincidence, that Pentagon City got two new ones in recent years. Hey, we also have 3 Starbucks now too...

Crepes are too fragile to be treated like flour tortillas. Too hard to carry them around.

Oh, and John Travolta proved that you could walk while eating pizza (and look cool doing it) during the opening sequence of Saturday Night Fever.

Nah, Steve. They serve them in a paper, conical cup -- like they ones they dispense next to the water coolers at medical offices.
