Two Noteworthy Shifts in Web Development

- About.com, the most prominent site to import their content into Movable Type is switching to WordPress.
- Ruby's popularity, as measured by book sales, has soared past Python, after languishing in (relative) obscurity until 6 months ago.
For what it's worth, I've installed WordPress and Ruby on Rails, but haven't done anything but play around with either. I still see no compelling reason to switch over to WP, and haven't thought of a useful app to build in Ruby.
