One-Candidate Elections

I voted this morning (Democratic down the line, because Virginia is too damn socially-conservative), but a few elections had only one candidate.

What should one do in a case like this?

  • For for him/her.
  • Do a write-in for someone serious.
  • Do a write-in for someone ridiculous (e.g. Baba Booey).
  • Do a write-in for "None of the Above".
  • Leave it blank.

I went with that last option, for what it's worth.

Comments: One-Candidate Elections

The unopposed ones were the local Arlington races, right? Well, can you blame Republicans for not wanting to expend energy/money campaigning in Arlington? Though you think we'd be ripe for some solid third-party/independent candidates in Arl.

Yes, the few uncontested races were local-district things where it's basically a shoo-in for the Democratic nominee.

If you support the candidate, at least in theory, then vote for him/her.

If you don't support it, then I'd go with leave it blank, unless you know of a candidate mounting a serious write-in campaign.

I'm so freakin' apathetic this year I didn't vote.

No more comments! Either someone has violated Godwin's Law, I'm tired of the discussion or, most likely, the ten-week window has closed. You can, however, contact me through email.
