Two Big Lebowski Questions

- How come the soundtrack has no Credence?
- If The Dude, Walter and Donny are one bowling team, who is the third teammate of Jesus Quintana and his balding sidekick?
Give this question about a day or so. Luke, Chris, et al know every detail about this movie.
I have to rent Lebowski again. I remember thinking it was overrated (but also realizing that I most people don't feel that way) so maybe I missed something.

On the other hand, Office Space fucking blew, because I had expectations that just couldn't be met.

Posted by: joey on October 10, 2005 4:39 PM | permalinkI feel like Donnie is the alternate on their team.
Posted by: ChuckJerry on October 10, 2005 5:39 PM | permalinkBy the way, Max, watch Lebowski again and I think you'll like it more. The first time I watched it I felt like I didn't get it, and then when I watched it again, I realized that there's nothing to get. It's just about all the characters being weird.
Office Space is very funny too. I can see it being hyped too much so that you wouldn't like it, Joe, but to say that it "fucking blew" is most likely an overstatement. Again, if you go for a second viewing, you might like it more.

To be honest, I can't really think of why Jesus and his partner (whose name is Liam O'Brien) don't have a third guy. Maybe you only need two. Walter comes in late the night he pulls the gun on Smoky, so obviously he wasn't playing.
As for the soundtrack, not all the songs from every movie are on the accompanying CD. For example, may have heard Led Zeppelin songs in various movies, but the only time they've ever been on a soundtrack is Almost Famous. I think it's unless the band agrees to let its music go on the soundtrack, it doesn't appear.
Posted by: hollywood on October 10, 2005 8:24 PM | permalinkDude if you can't see large quantities of Douggie Fresh in the boss in Office Space, you're blind... I also see a bit of Moshe in Milton, and every time the gang walks across the street to get snacks I have an image of the Office Space guys walking through the grassy culvert to Tchotchke's. The movie's a riot.
Steve:
Wrong post, but I like the Moshe/Milton parallel.
And who doesn't identify that boss dude with someone at their job?
Posted by: Joe Grossberg on October 11, 2005 6:14 AM | permalinkCan't remember the scene exactly (even after having seen the movie an umpteen times), but isn't Smokie the third guy in Jesus' team? Wasn't that why Jesus gave his famous "trigger" speech to Walter?
Posted by: Marius on October 11, 2005 3:18 PM | permalinkI have a coworker who speculates that it was Smokey, but do you think Jesus would have sat there silently while a gun was pulled? Maybe it was a Liam-and-Smokey night.
Posted by: Joe Grossberg on October 11, 2005 4:10 PM | permalinkSmoky is definitely not on Jesus and Liam's team. He was on some other team in the tournament because after they beat Smoky's team, they were to play Jesus and Liam, "Quintana and O'Brien, should be pushovers", in the next round.
I'm sticking with the alternate theory.
