Africa, Ignored

Q: What was the world's deadliest conflict in the half-century since World War II ended?
A: The civil war in the Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire), which killed almost 4 million people until its end in 2003.
That's right: two years ago. Four million people dead. The highest total in 50 years. And almost no one knows that.
Apparently there was also a giant war at the beginning of the 20th century as well in the Congo, which killed about half the population. But I have heard very little about it, despite it being among the worlds worst wars.
It's crazy. The value of life is calculated haphazardly.
