Win a Date with ... Brad Rutter
Tags:
Yes, my college buddy and Jeopardy genius Brad Rutter is single. Yes, he is that smart.
No, you can't have his phone number or email address.
BUT if you're a hot chick who wants to meet him, yes I will forward your email and photo to him.
I have to warn you though ... I've already gotten a few emails, so if you want to catch his eye, you've got to find some way to get the guy's attention.
HINT: He is a guy. He likes the Philadelphia Eagles and the Flyers. He likes hot chicks. He hates Johns Hopkins. Be creative.
Joe,
I think it's nice of you to filter out potential dates for Brad. You must be a great friend. Anyway, Please let Brad know that I think he is doing a fantastic job so far, and I hope he kicks Ken's butt tonight in the final game. I was also shocked to hear him mention he was single! He is SO adorable. Not to mention funny and smart. I hope being a "hot chick" isn't his main requirement for a possible girlfriend. I would think his intelligence would allow him to be a little less, well, neandrathalish, if that is indeed a word. (no, I am not ugly. And I am a 38D if that matters) If he wants to contact me, I can elaborate further. I am all the way in Cali anyway. Probably too far for him.
Good luck tonight, Brad!!!!

Hey Brad Congratulations! I don't know if you remember me, but I lived across the street from you when we were kids. It was on lititz pike. My parents have gotten a kick out of watching you on jeopardy. Anyways I just wanted to say congrats, and way to put MTHS on the map! Email me sometime I'd love to here about your journey! Tell Guy I said hello!

Posted by: Sonja on May 25, 2005 7:40 PM | permalinkHi! I am not the right age for Brad and I'm not asking for a date. (I am 15.) But I am probably the only Jeopardy player that has emailed you so far. When I was 11, in 2001, I was on Kids Jeopardy. I really enjoyed the experience and I understand what it is like to be in the spotlight in the Jeopardy studio. I just wanted you to tell Brad that he did an excellent job and my whole family was cheering (loudly) for him. Thanks so much! GO BRAD!!!!!
Posted by: Lauren on May 25, 2005 7:54 PM | permalinkJust wondered why anyone would want to date Brad. He is the most arrogant person I have ever watched on Jeopardy and I can't belive he beat Ken Jennings. Ken is the true great guy. Brad needs to not be so cocky. What a show off!!!!!!!!

I think he did it to psych himself up and psych out opponents.
He was much chiller in the final round and is actually a mellow, humble guy in real life.

Posted by: Melissa on May 25, 2005 8:04 PM | permalinkI feel like I'm campaigning. I'm single, intelligent and beautiful. I'm 20 and I live in Florida. Its difficult to find an attractive girl thats also brilliant, but I've got it! I've been watching jeopardy since I was a child. Thats got to have some pull in this! My 45 year old mother calls me everynight at 8 to swoon over Brad, so if i'm too young then theres always my mom haha
Posted by: Jade on May 25, 2005 8:09 PM | permalinkI think it is very nice that you are helping your friend! I can't believe someone so sweet, funny and handsome is still single! Posted by: April Rearick on May 25, 2005 8:25 PM | permalinkI CANNOT FUCKING BELIEVE BRAD IS SINGLE. i don't think i'm supposed to say that on here, but i really don't care. i remember brad when he was on the first time, and i thought he was cute back then. not that i care what he even looks like, because my main affinity has always been intelligence. i am from chicago, but i moved to maine when i was younger, and i always got crap for being smart. well, screw them. i'd rather have me a really smart guy who can keep up with me. brad, i hope you find your ms. right. i wish it was me. if i wasn't married.... oh man. but you're more than welcome to come sweep me off my feet, you sexy bastard.
Posted by: jennifer on May 25, 2005 8:49 PM | permalinkYikes, with that spelling and punctuation, you must be the kind of "hot chicks" who'd appeal to a very shallow man, and Lord help you when gravity finally takes over. Maybe a very old, shallow man. With a bad cough.
Posted by: Yer Mama on May 25, 2005 8:49 PM | permalinkby the way, i purposely didn't mention "i'm hot" because i think everyone likes to be with someone they find attractive. one person's eye candy is another person's eyesore. with that said, i've never had trouble getting the guy i personally wanted. and i'm smart. and i have a potty mouth. but it's funny! i was voted 'class clown' and 'biggest mouth' in my senior class ('99). beat that, bitches.
Posted by: jennifer on May 25, 2005 8:54 PM | permalinkHi Joe,
Hope you don't come down with "Cyranosis." Let's just say, your friend Brad has finally given this East Coast snob now living in PA something to be proud of. I see it as a red state/blue state thing. I mean, we blue staters sent that red state goober Ken Jennings packing. I also see it as a victory for fellow slackers working retail and college dropouts everywhere. Who says Latin is a dead language??? Also, your friend is rather dashing in that John Wilkes Boothe/Antebellum kind of way. Maybe Alex Trebec will pass the baton to him someday.
Posted by: Laurie on May 25, 2005 8:57 PM | permalinkJoe,
I'll take Song Title Email Code for $1000 Alex. Tell Brad if he can break my code, I'd love to talk with him. (By the way, I think I'd qualify as 'hot'...where do I send a picture?)

Brad - congrats on smoking Ken Jennings and losing all that weight! I didn't even realize who you were until I read some stuff online about you! Newsweek is the only publication so far to state your win.
My only problem is, I taped the show, and my tape ran out right at the Final Jeopardy :( Wah!!
Would you please tell me the answer and your question?
Thanks and congrats again - I love your spunk and attitude towards the game- you rocked!
Glad you "slayed the dragon of Jeopardy" ;)
Oh, and way to go on the latin category today - my daughter would love to know more about this, but I'm not as smart as you!
Is there a chance Brad would date a man? He' so hot!!!
Posted by: JW on May 25, 2005 10:04 PM | permalinkWow. Just wow. I wonder how many posts you'd have here if he wasn't raking in the $millions.
Posted by: O'dell on May 25, 2005 10:22 PM | permalinkJoe,
I found this site because I was searching to see if Brad was single. I'd just like to shake his hand (without a wife or girlfriend staring at me funny) for whooping that annoying pseudo-ultimate champ Ken Jennings. Now I see that he's single and looking, I'd send my pic, but there's no email posted.
I mean really here, what girl wouldn't want a date with Brad? He's adorable, has perfect timing, obviously knows how to push buttons pretty well, and even under pressure keeps a good rhythm going. He's a dream come true ladies ;)
Send me an email, and sign me up! -D

I'm delighted that Brad won the tourney this evening. He seems to have charm as well as brains.. btw ... I have something in common with you... I detest a JHU grad..altho I have nothing against JHU or its faculty...
Am pretty fed up with Ken J.'s face and cocksuredness...so, it's so refreshing to see someone like Brad... Most of the jeopardy contestants eem to be pretty decent folks.
I live in LA and went for an audition about a year ago... I was one of the 60 people who were not chosen... maybe because I am not speedy gonzales.
Just a 68 year old grandma..
Well, I'm not the type to just pretend to be an Eagles or Flyers fan just to impress a guy. As a matter of fact, Steelers rule and hockey can stay...well dormant. I'm a Jersey girl who is truly impressed with your intelligence and sense of humor and hope you have a strong but healthy competitive spirit. I certainly do! Creative, I'm not. Smart, successful and not too bad to look at? Yeah, I think I have those covered. ;-) Congratulations Brad. I've watched Jeopardy almost every night for the past 20 years and I was and am a big fan of Ken Jennings. You earned my respect tonight. Drop me a note if you're interested...
Posted by: Donna on May 26, 2005 1:42 AM | permalinkIt is so not even about the money. It was just exciting to see him win. And blow away the competition in the process. As for him being single, I've been watching this tournament thinking, "Boy that hot guy sure is smart." Then a couple weeks ago, when he said he was single and thought with the money and Porsche that he would have women throwing themselves at him, and didn't, I actually spoke to my T.V. and said,"If you want a woman to throw herself at you consider me thrown." Anyways, I've been playing along, because what fun is Jeopardy if you don't, and these last 3 games have been very hard. And I've been doing really well playing along up until this point. Being the same age as Brad, I was thinking tonight that somewhere in my life I must have wasted some time, because I can't imagine how he accumulated such a wealth of knowledge in our mere 27 years. But I got Dashiell Hammett right and he didn't.
Posted by: Victoria on May 26, 2005 3:26 AM | permalinkBest of luck to Brad with his date-finding. ;) It was nice to see him win. I'm not anti-Ken Jennings or anything, but Brad seemed like a sweetheart on the air -- we all (the three of us watching) thought it cute the way he clapped for the other players, and he seemed to genuinely want the others to do well too. I'm not throwing my hat in the ring, but whoever if Brad and some lucky gal find love, congrats. ;)

Posted by: Daphney on May 26, 2005 9:01 AM | permalinkOnce again I have to thank you Joe. These posts just keep getting better and better. Brad has his pick between a lot of classy and high caliber women here...ha ha
Posted by: Melissa on May 26, 2005 9:22 AM | permalinkWell, even though I'm sure Brad wouldn't be into the travel involved in meeting or dating a Canadian gal, I figured I'd throw my two cents in, since I was blown away by his Jeopardy playing abilities. Way to go Brad, I was rooting for you the entire time! You've got a great smile; I was floored when Alex mentioned you were still single. Anyway, best of luck in the future, I hope you can find someone to make you very happy.
Posted by: Krysta on May 26, 2005 10:12 AM | permalinkWatching the entire tournament was fun, but a bit stressful, since I am in the contestant pool this year, and over three months of my eligibility was eaten up by this marathon. I hope they give this year's crop an extension, before we have to re-audition.
Posted by: Rich Vehlow on May 26, 2005 10:28 AM | permalinkMy son and I watched Brad's appearances in the Million Dollar Jeopardy! tournament in NYC. We were a couple of rows behind the guys who spelled out B-R-A-D after his victory. He was a great champion and wore it well. Humble and super-intelligent. Zowie! I, too, thought Ken Jennings appeared cocky several times during and prior to the Big Tournament, but when he finished up with "Go, Brad" he redeemed himself. I hope that Brad finds happiness in the "love" category by "doing the research" and finding his equal. There are many very intelligent women in the world and I hope his soul-mate and Brad find each other. Way to go, Brad.
Posted by: Joan Taylor on May 26, 2005 10:31 AM | permalinkBrad,
Great job last night... or whenever it was taped. I was worried the night you ended up in last place before Final Jeopardy in the earlier rounds because we wouldn't have had the pleasure of watching you win if you hadn't had that stroke of luck! No, I don't want a date... I'm happily married and about to give birth to my firstborn son... but my husband and I are big Jeopardy (and now Brad) fans. I hope you have a great agent and I hope we'll see much more of you in the National Spotlight!
Well, this rhapsodizing just confirms the lines that ol' Cole Porter once penned... "Brush up your Shakespeare [and Virgil] and they'll all kow-tow!" (and my father said a liberal education wouldn't bring in the big bucks...)
Posted by: Laurie on May 26, 2005 11:03 AM | permalinkJust for those of you that say Brad is arrogant... Brad is a long time friend of ours and I can assure you that he is a great guy. He is an intelligent, attractive, fun guy that deserves the same thing in a woman. Congrats Brad!!!!!
Posted by: Nicole and Andy on May 26, 2005 11:44 AM | permalinkI'm 28 and live on Long Island. I tried out for Jeopardy a few years ago, but didn't quite make it. I've been rooting for Brad all through this. First, I just wanted someone to knock the smirk off Ken's face. But then having seen some background on Brad on TV, and seeing all the goals in his life he has been able to meet - weight loss, attaining a dream job and now winning the Ultimate Tournament, I thought he was quite remarkable. Had he lost, I would have e-mailed him anyway just to say hi, and now that he's won it all, I see there are SOOO many more who want to talk to him. Anyway, I'm cute (I promise!), I'm single, well-educated and have a great job. I like sports, history and music and I'm just a few hours away (fewer if you drive the Porsche!). Pictures on request. E-mail me! Best of luck to you Brad! Congrats!

Posted by: Jeannie on May 26, 2005 3:43 PM | permalinkCongrats Brad - well done. I started watching the tournament with an "anyone but Ken" mantra but became a Rutter rooter as soon as you showed up. I'm probably older than your preferred demographic, but as a season ticket holder I would like to extend an invitation to you for a Rangers/Flyers game next season (fingers crossed). There is nothing like that matchup (short of Rangers/Islanders) at MSG. All the best - rock on!
Posted by: Robin on May 26, 2005 4:55 PM | permalinkDear Brad,
I wanted to say congratulations on winning the jeaopardy tornament; however, I had no doubts. I think that it would be awesome to meet you someday. Not just because you are a nice looking man (that's secondary), but because I am always attracked to smart men. Being a doctor, it is hard for me to find men who are smarter then me--I get bored with them easily. I don't think that I could ever be bored with you. Again, congratulations, you deserve it!
Thanks, Joe, for putting up this site. Thanks for running interference for Brad. Like many or the others who wrote in, I've followed Brad from his first win. I felt he could beat Ken as Ken didn't know what it was to go up against a champion except for that first match and I can't remember just how many wins that contenstant had. Anyway, I'm glad to see that the weight loss was due to Atkins and not illness. Best wishes to Brad and to you, too, Joe.
Posted by: Elinor on May 26, 2005 8:50 PM | permalinkCongratulations, Brad...
Thanks for making that arrogant, smug and childish Ken Jennings show his true colors. Didn't anyone notice in game two when Ken slammed his buzzer down on the podium? I mean, c'mon...Lose gracefully, man...The "Go Brad" to me was just a smug way of saying "F*** you, Brad". Brad was at least gracious enough to thank his fellow competitors.
As much as I love Jeopardy!, I cannot STAND Ken Jennings. I hope Comedy Central cancels his contract for hosting a game show, and offers it to Brad. Book deals, commercials, etc....Give them to a WINNER (i.e. Brad).
Sorry for the rant, but I have waited for someone to come along and put KJ in his place. Thank you, Brad...you ROCK!
Posted by: bob on May 26, 2005 11:39 PM | permalinkWay to go Brad!
I've been telling everyone I know in Los Angeles for weeks that they had to watch Jeopardy because you were going to take down Ken Jennings! You proved me right! (which is more than I can say for the Eagles)
Anyway, I was classmates with your brother at MTHS, and I am thrilled that you've represented us so well. If I remember right, back then you took our Quiz Bowl team to #2 in the world...is that right? Best of luck on fending off (some of) the ladies and stashing that cash away. My friends here think it's time for Trebek to retire and you to take over -- how about it?
