Bad News: Adobe Acquires Macromedia

As I've said before, competition is good. The fierce competition between Adobe and Macromedia has resulted in some great innovation.

Synergy schmynergy; these "integrated solutions" from the acquisition are almost certainly going to result in (relative) stagnation. At least until someone can seriously compete with an $800 million (revenues) company.

You are absolutely right. The competition in the free market would have provided for better innovation.

I think that Adobe will need to continue updating their software because people will not be as inclined to purchase upgrades that don't change much.

Overall, I think it's bad.
