It's April in DC. This tree is outside my building:

Comments: Cherry Blossoms

The cherry blossom thing in DC is overrated. I was coincidentally in DC last year during the cherry blossom thing and everyone was all worked up about it.

The cherry blossoms are absolutely beautiful, but they are in bloom for literally about a week. After that, there's just a million little trees all over the place, which is fine, but nothing to get all excited about.

Just like the dogwood tree in my back yard in Teaneck.

I think that's part of what makes it a big deal, though: the blossoming is very, very brief and there are a large concentration of them in DC. It's also an opportune time of year to kick off the serious tourist season.
