Remember Ghettopoly?

The feds do, and they're planning to destroy all unsold copies of the game, because it allegedly violates Hasbro's copyright on Monopoly.

Comments: Remember Ghettopoly?

I guess my copy of the game is safe because it's been used a couple of times?

Do you think they'll track me down thru the company's transaction files and persecute me like they did those users of Kazaa for file sharing music?

I'm not a lawyer; I have no idea.

Why does this kind of thing sound unconstitutional, sort of like those drug forfeiture laws?

But it looks like they are still selling it at ghettopoly.com! You can add it to the cart and go to check out.

So, if one pays, does the money disappear and wind up in the pockets of the government or Hasbro?

Are they just getting around to the copyright infringement thing? This was at least a year ago. Shouldn't they have halted production and selling of this thing while the case was pending?

It's funny how they say the unsold Ghettopoly has a "street value of $2.5 million" like it's cocaine or something.

Yeah that was pretty funny. I guess you might use the same phrasing with bootleg DVDs though.

No more comments! Either someone has violated Godwin's Law, I'm tired of the discussion or, most likely, the ten-week window has closed. You can, however, contact me through email.
