What's the status on alligator? I must know.

Alligator was OK. I only had it fried in a cajun batter, which makes everything taste the same.

I had aligator on a stick at the Minnesota State Fair. Wasn't bad.

I've also eaten elephant in a can. I can explain why it didn't make that list. :-)

One thing people never seem to have tried is 'long pig.' It's not exotic, you can find it in any neighborhood.

I had a durian smoothee at a Vietnamese place once. It tasted like they threw cantaloupe and green onions into the blender.

How can you only *like* cheesecake?!

Same way pancakes, chocolate and ice cream are also "like" -- I just don't like sweets that much. You know that.

So you've tried alligator, but never tried kangaroo during your time in Australia?

In hindsight, I should have eaten a kangaroo steak; they had them at the local pub.

I know that, but it's cheesecake, the favorite food of the Golden Girls.

What a strange list. Some items on here seem like you'd have to avoid them to not have them, and others I've never heard of.

For the most part I'm in agreement with you Joe, with just a few notable exceptions:

Thai food rocks.
Crab (at least blue crab Maryland style) rocks.
Clam chowder, ick.
Cheesecake rocks, and I don't like sweets much either.
Lamb too, my favorite meat.
Alligator I haven't had, and now I'm not sure if I can due to religious restrictions
Oysters I haven't had either. I'm worried that I'll try the wrong ones and not get a good impression...
Greek food, I must admit, is a big favorite of mine.
Mexican food is the food that I'd choose if I only could have one...
Salmon is good most any way. Though is lox the overly salty one? That one I can only have a little of...
Venison is yummy.
Never had shark, at least I don't think so.
Haven't a clue what an "Australian meat pie" is.
Not a big fan of Tapas (too much pork I think)
Caviar I don't think I've had.
And I do like Cornish Pasties, if not made with pork lard.

Odd too see the Brits enjoying an American Diner breakfast so much, but I'm glad that they can appreciate one of America's greatest culinary achievements.

And now I must research:
* Barramundi
* Cream tea
* Moreton Bay Bugs

Well I'll be.

Barramundi is just some whitefish: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barramundi

And I've had cream tea: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cream_tea

And the Moreton Bay Bug, (Thenus orientalis), is a species of lobster found throughout the waters of Australia's north coast: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moreton_Bay%2C_Queensland

I guess the first and thrid there should be on my list the next trip I take to Indonesia...
