Both from Waxy.org's Linkblog:

On the walk home from the Metro, I pass by the mall's video game store. There were easily 150 people standing in line for their copy.

But damn. Over $200 million in one week, for a video game.

Comments: Two Notes on GTA: San Andreas

After only three hours of playing it, I can wholeheartedly say it's the best thing to ever hit the PS2 - and would be even without Axl as a DJ and Danzig's "Mother" playing regularly on the modern rock radio station. But man, GTA critics are going to have a field day with its raunchy, profane subject matter....

You might see a similar line come November 8, when Halo 2 is going to hit America stores.

It's got a long way to go to be #1. Here's a list I dug up:

1. "Super Mario Bros." for NES: 40 Million Units
2. "Tetris" for Gameboy: 33 Million Units
3. "Super Mario Bros. 3" for NES: 18 Million Units
4. "Super Mario World" for SNES: 17 Million Units
5. "Super Mario Land" for Gameboy: 14 Million Units
6. "Super Mario 64" for N64: 11 Million Units
7. "The Sims" for PC: 10 Million Units
8. "Super Mario Bros. 2" for NES: 10 Million Units
9. "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City" for PS2: 8.5 Million Units

No more comments! Either someone has violated Godwin's Law, I'm tired of the discussion or, most likely, the ten-week window has closed. You can, however, contact me through email.
