Better Last Than DNF

From a site dedicated to celebrating (no, seriously!) the last-place finishers at the 2004 Olympics:

Women's marathon: Luvsanlkhundeg Otgonbayar of Mongolia finished 66th with a time of 3:48:42 — half an hour behind the 65th-place finisher and over an hour and twenty minutes behind the winner. Sixteen competitors did not finish.

Sixteen of the 82 olympic athletes in the event didn't even finish — WTF? Unless your leg snaps off, how can you make it all the way to the Olympics and then quit?

Comments: Better Last Than DNF

Two words: heat exhaustion.

It was mad hot when they ran the marathon. Like 100 degrees or something.
