Aussie Foreign Minister Alexander Downer on why his nation's troops are in Iraq:
Without them we would have to close the embassy ... we would not be able to provide humanitarian assistance to the Iraqis or negotiate wheat contracts.

This kind of spin makes sense for a government that's about to pull it's troops. The Aussie PM was counting on a lot of support from George Bush, but that's not worth much right now, and there is an election coming up...
