MT 3.0, Part 2: How to Do PR Right
Tags:
Six Apart is run by human beings, and humans make mistakes. And, yes, not being clearer about MT 3.0's pricing plans, the upcoming author/weblog constraints, what would be omitted from the "free" MT, etc. was indeed a mistake.
But, as someone who fucks up every day (otherwise I wouldn't have to debug and test my apps, now would I?), I'm extremely grateful that I don't have to do so under the glaring eye of thousands of people — never mind thousands of bloggers.
Those mistakes are amplified by the blogosphere's harsh light. We nit-pick. We blow things out of proportion. We use harsher language than we would in real life. And, most of all, we criticize, we complain, we whine.
So, in light of all this — and even though I'd rather use a fully-featured MT3.0 for free — I give props to Ben, Mena, Anil, et al. for actually being even fortcoming and open about things.
Six Apart: you made some mistakes. But then you handled them properly.
Because we know that ain't the easiest way to react to criticism.
