Layout Tweaks

update Did a few more things:
  • Hid the tchotchkes behind a collapsing menu.
  • Added an RSS button to the "about" section.
I've made some minor tweaks to the site:
  • Pared down the list of buttons in the sidebar.
  • Removed the "category" icons from entries — they clashes with the site's style
  • Removed the "category" links — those files are getting to be enormous
  • Removed the "category" text from entries — seems like unnecessary info
  • Added <meta name="robots" content="noindex"> to the category archives, so Google et al. won't index them. They're still there, however, if I want to use them.
  • Removed the "endorsements" from the front page. The novelty has worn off and it was just taking up space.
  • Put all my templates into CVS, for version control and tagged them.

Comments: Layout Tweaks

I like the cleanup you did to the site, looks really good. I'm not sure if I just didn't notice before either but I love the image containing the date. That looks really nifty. =)

Thanks.

The "tab" actually looks like this:

It's a CSS background image for the "date" text, with an offset.

Way to go. Your site now looks like crap. How could you make all those changes?!?! And to think I trusted you....
