Anti-Weblog Rant

Here's a good old-fashioned public bitch session about why a guy hates blogs.

Personally, I agree that most blogs are stupid, mine included. So what? It's a freaking hobby, dude.

I don't blog because it matters, I blog because I enjoy it.

I totally disagree.

I have a blog so that I don't have to email, IM, or call everyone I know to tell them the stupid things that occur to me, or that I find all day. That way the people I know, know where to find my bits of whatever. Some of them now have the same, and I read their bits and possibly comment. In addition, I've met a few others who post bits that are interesting or entertaining to me.

I assume that the sorts of blogs that I read aren't the best example of what this guy is ranting against, but I also assume that the trivial nonsense that I read on some blogs does the same for their authors, and their author's friends.

Heh. I should have reread that one more time, the initial statement doesn't say whom I'm disagreeing with. Clearly I'm disagreeing with the guy, not Joe.

Well, this kind of belongs under your "Pet Peeves" post, but I'll make it apply.

You know how someone will do something cool and creative, to which the response is often, "he/she has too much time on their hands?" I hate that. Nobody thinks that maybe they don't spend five hours in front of the tv every day.

Same with blogging... It may or may not have a point, but it is a creative period of writing, an intellectual activity. It's far better than watching reality tv, for sure.

No more comments! Either someone has violated Godwin's Law, I'm tired of the discussion or, most likely, the ten-week window has closed. You can, however, contact me through email.
