Microsoft is now releasing software under the GPL (i.e. as open source).

For the non-geeks, this is roughly equivalent to Pat Robertson funding a porno.

I agree with sourcefrog that it's a Good Thing.

Yeah, it's a huge company and relatively obscure software -- it's not like they opened up MS Office -- but cool nonetheless.
