Not only did the famous activist-musician live in Brooklyn and raise a Jewish family, he wrote songs about Channukah. And he also had a young Meir Kahane teach his son Arlo Hebrew.

Maybe I misread the article, but his in-laws and kids were Jewish, and he was involved in the Jewish community and culture, but it says nothing about his religion.
