The writeup is funny; the winning bid makes my head hurt: some guy sold Collection of 26 Beanie Babies from Ex-Wife on ebay.

Money quote: "I don't think my ex-wife was in the Black Market Beanie Trade..but then again, I didn't know she was having an affair either."

Collecting is fun, until adults get involved. Then it's just insane.

Occasionally, I hear stories about some fast food chain giving out toys in kids' meals that people feel are worth collecting. They usually involve some guy ordering 100 meals, asking the person at the register to hold the burger, fries, and drink.

I guess that I'm not shocked because I've seen some crazy things about them in the past. I seem to recall that some woman that paid $500 for a "rare" Beanie Baby that just turned out to be a duck with its beak cut out and sewn shut.
