Dean for Decay

Among Democratic candidate Howard Dean's platform for economic growth and job creation are these gems:
  • Raising the minimum wage
  • Expand[ing] unemployment insurance
  • A trade policy that ensures that strong and enforceable labor provisions are included in all trade agreements
Now, I could understand it if he was in favor of "better jobs". Or "labor rights". Or "helping the working poor". Or "fairness".

But "economic growth and job creation"? Someone needs to learn a little about supply and demand. Increased labor costs don't result in either goal.

True, but who is going to say "Let's pay workers less money and give them less benefits, it's for the good of the economy!".

Yes, I suppose. It is politics after all.

Believe me, my head is on the bring of exploding after hearing this administration's claims that decreasing taxes and increasing spending won't create deficit woes.
