Recently a man was busted for recording everything people typed on "public" Kinko's computers and used the information to steal identities, open bank accounts and commit fraud.

Yes, it's illegal, but that doesn't mean it can't happen.

Meanwhile, who knows how these usernames, passwords, credit card numbers, etc. have been distributed.

Lesson: if you're using a computer that you don't totally control (in a store, library, school computer lab, etc.), you shouldn't be doing sensitive things. Checking the Amazon for the name of that album is OK. Logging in and then purchasing something with a credit card is dangerous.
