Ethnic Dining Guide for the DC Area

update Summer 2004 version has arrived.

update And, another update ... I don't know why they keep moving it around. It'd be more convenient if the URL was always the same.

update The latest version of the dining guide has been put online.

Economics professor and globalization expert Tyler Cowen offers us a guide to the best ethnic restaurants in Washington DC. I agree with his General Remarks, so I'll have to give his "Seventeen Unknown Places You Must Try" a ... er ... try.

He also says, "And I focus on places you might not already know, overlooking such notable (but known) restaurants as Panjshir, for Afghan food, Duangrat's (Thai), or the Vietnamese places at Eden Center (how can you pick just one?)." I guess that means I'm out of the loop, and there are 20 places I must try.

Apparently I've got to give Ghana Cafe another shot, because I really didn't like the food the first time I ate there.

another shot to Ghana Cafe? that's balsy. What gets me is all but 2 of those places are in BFE. I know they have ethnic people in those places, but some dont' really even count as the DC area.

Umm ... what's BFE?

Perhaps Pam is from way out Maryland, as I find that a good deal of the list is quite accessable and firmly in "DC".

BFE would be Butt F!*@ Egypt, which is a less polite term for the boonies.

Oh, and I use the email system everywhere, it's just habit.

It is really good that such a guide has appeared. There must be no complain that such reastaraunts are spreading. They are contributing to developing food culture and its variety as well
