Via Calpundit, the Washington Post reports that the "Total Information Awareness" program has been redubbed "Terrorism Information Awareness".

There's nothing new about this ... doesn't "Secretary of Defense" sound less violent than "Secretary of War" (renamed in 1947), and "Secretary of State" sound less colonialist than "Secretary of the Exterior" (not ever called that, but in parallel to Secretary of the Interior)?

Never mind the substance ... government is all about branding.
