JHU Homecoming

This Saturday, Pam and I went back to my alma mater, The Johns Hopkins University. I'd been back to Baltimore dozens of times since, including two trips through the Charles Village neighborhood, but had not gone back to my old school. For the most part, I didn't like the school, and I didn't like the people. Still, it was my 5th year reunion (even though I didn't attend any official events) and I thought it might be interesting to walk around.

Here is a picture of me at the rowhouse I lived in during senior year:
3145 Abell Ave
It looked like no one was currently living there.

Charles Village has more to offer: a Xando coffee/sandwich shoppe, a haircut place, and Rocky Run — sort of like a Chili's with really good food.

Here is a shot of me in front of the student newspaper office:
The Gatehouse
The hyphen has fallen off, but otherwise it looks the same as ever.

The paper looks like it's going strong, though it looks surprisingly similar to the design when I left.

Campus itself hadn't changed as much people say, but there are differences. There are now cool information/map kiosks around the campus. Garland field is now a paved parking lot. "The Beach" is now surrounded by a full, circular driveway. That stupid volleyball court has been removed from the freshman quad, and there are new pathways in its stead. The most noticeable change is the addition of a new arts (?) building along N. Charles St., between The Beach and the News-Letter office. I didn't bother looking for the Rex Chao statue.

They had a lacrosse game, which we ditched (went to the Aquarium instead). If I don't get to see Cathy's great centering half-shot, then it just ain't lacrosse, baby.
