Andrew Sullivan ponders, "Santorum, of course, doesn't believe he's prejudiced against gay people. I wonder if he knows any."

You mean if he knows any who are "out of the closet". Of course Santorum knows homosexuals; he probably has met hundreds. Given the pressure not to come out to the GOP, he probably works with several. And I'm sure he (like many Republicans) tries really, really hard not to think about it.

Contrary to what many homophobes seem to think, not every gay man walks around with a pink feather boa, blowing everything in sight. They're Santorum's neighbors, coworkers, friends and relatives.

It's like the tired old line about "I don't know anyone with HIV" — people don't always walk around with signs announcing it. Hell, sometimes they, themselves, don't know!
