The Future (Present) of the NBA
I was just commenting to some friends about how, not long ago, pundits had decided that the NBA would go into a Dark Age of few stars and compelling personalities, once Jordan, Barkley, Bird, Magic, Hakeem, Ewing, Drexler, 'Nique and co. had retired.
Instead we have Kobe, Shaq, Iverson, Garnett, Pierce, Nowitzki, Duncan and McGrady absolutely tearing shit up. (Not to mention Kidd, Webber, Jermaine O'Neal, Stephon Marbury and a whole bunch of guys like Steve Francis and Ray Allen, who didn't make the playoffs.)
I also think it's interesting that the shoo-ins, like Grant Hill, Vince Carter and Alonzo Mourning have succumbed to injuries. So not only is there talent in the league, there is enough to compensate for heirs apparent missing the action.
