Why Nerds Are Unpopular
Paul Graham, best known for his work with the LISP programming language, has a lengthy-but-great essay on Why Nerds Are Unpopular.
I wish I'd have had it as a teenager. I told him the same. He suggested I submit it to Slashdot. Apparently another reader beat me to it.
Interesting article. The curious thing is how much the entertainment media puts such a positive spin on being un-cool. Freaks & Geeks; Revenge of the Nerds; Head of the Class-- all show how being unpopular is really interesting and look down on popular kids. Is entertainment reflecting reality or vice versa?
